**BALIA FAQ**
Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions section. Here, we aim to address common queries and provide more information about our household staffing agency. Whether you're curious about our services, the screening process, or how to get started, we've got you covered.
We specialize in placing a wide range of professional household staff including:
Nannies (full-time, part-time, live-in, and temporary)
Newborn care specialists
Housekeepers
Family assistants
House managers
Private educators & tutors
Whether you're seeking one-time support or a long-term solution, we tailor the process to your needs.
We conduct comprehensive background checks on all candidates we refer — including national criminal history, sex offender registry, driving records (when applicable), and professional reference verification. Drug testing is also included in every placement.
We also screen families to ensure a safe, respectful environment for the professionals we work with. Our team reserves the right to decline service if a family does not meet our minimum safety or communication standards. At Union Lane, trust goes both ways.
You do. Balia is a referral and placement service, not a payroll employer. Once a match is made, the family or client becomes the direct employer of the staff member. This allows for greater flexibility, control, and tax transparency on both sides.
We provide: ✔ A customizable hiring contract template ✔ Guidance on payment structure and schedule ✔ Recommendations for tax compliance tools and household payroll providers if needed
You’re never left to figure it out alone — we walk you through every step of the hiring and onboarding process.
